Are you truly enjoying the chase?

"Find what you love and let it kill you."

To be clear, that's my dog.

She loves tennis balls. And I'm pretty sure that if she could, she'd chase them to fatal exhaustion.

The more I throw the ball, the more she runs after it.

She's huffing, puffing and panting and still running after it...because she's motivated by it and she LOVES it.

She has so much fun, and she'll run after it no matter where it goes.

And it got me thinking...

(⬇️ Btw, watch instead of reading, or read on below.)

Are you truly enjoying the chase?

What are some areas in our own life where we love or care about something, and no matter what happens—

—even if you're exhausted

—or sick of it

—even if it hurts

—even if it causes chaos

—even if it goes in all kinds of different directions

—even if it's a repetitive motion over and over again...

...you just keep running after that tennis ball.

That thing that you really, really like.

Or. That thing that you've been conditioned to.

Maybe it's something motivating. Maybe it's something good.

Maybe it's something healthy. Maybe it's something unhealthy.

Maybe it's something weighing you down. Or smacking you in the face. Or creating chaos in your life.

So, what is it in YOUR life? That thing you'll just get up and go after it, no matter what?

Just wanted to put that out there today. I noticed that and it made me stop and think, "Where in my life am I doing that?"

And what would it look like for me to change the pattern, change my habit, or even stop doing it? What would happen?

What if you didn't run after it every time? What if you just left it there? It won't roll out of the house. It would stay there and you could come back to it later.

It also made me think about the times when all the tennis balls are destroyed, and we're in a season without them.

When the new sleeve of tennis balls arrives, how excited the dogs are to get their hands on that tennis ball again.

So anyway, a little message for you today that may have some parallels in your life.

I'd love to hear what the tennis ball is for you, and if you're happy with the chase. Or if you're feeling tired and exhausted and run down and controlled by it.

Love doing life with you,
Dawn

Tired of being responsible for everything?
A client of mine confessed to me in the past that he wasn't really a "coaching guy." He was skeptical of outside agendas—and honestly, that’s fair. But he took the leap with me anyway. Recently I was sitting in a 1-to-1 with him. He's a CEO of a large organization with a lot of moving parts...including leading over a hundred team members. I’d had the privilege of sitting on their leadership tea...
The "unknown tax" you’re probably paying
I realize we're all in tax mode, so this isn't the type of tax you're probably thinking about right now. But it's a tax nonetheless. In life, when we decide to say 'yes' to something, there's almost always some unknown "extra" connected to it that we don't know realize we're also saying yes to. I might say yes to something and initially think, "Yeah, I can totally do that on Saturday!" But late...
The missing ingredient for moving the needle
Have you ever felt like you’re playing a constant game of whack-a-mole in your life and biz? You’re working hard—maybe 60+ hours a week—but it feels like you’re trying to catch rain in your hands. It’s exhausting, it’s maddening, and frankly, it’s no way to build a life or a career you actually enjoy. I see this all the time when I walk into workshops. Busy professionals show up to get all the ...
