How to stop flying through storms

So, I recorded this video two weeks ago on a day that was absolutely beautiful outside for February, after a period of cold and snow.

And since then, it's been cold, cold, cold and snow, snow, snow all over again.

I'm kinda glad I didn't get this out to you right away, because now it makes the sentiment of this post even more relevant.πŸ˜†

That sentiment? Missing a prompting can really set some storms swirling around you. (And worse...repeated storms.)

How to stop flying through storms

Lately I've been thinking about two ideas:

  1. That there is an order to things & a time and place when things occur.
  2. That you need to take one step, before you can take the next.

What relates to both of these things?

Promptings. Getting prompted to do something (and then doing it).

Now the big question: Have you ever ignored a prompting?

You're like, "Eh, I'll handle it later." And then you put it off.

So anyway...now a little segue about birds. Stick with me a sec.

Prior to recording this video, all this really cold weather had come in. And there were some poor birds out here trying to figure it all out.

Not a ton. Just a few. Because most birds were already gone for the season.

And that made me think about promptings. (Or rather, ignoring them.)

Birds are prompted to leave an area in advance of cold weather coming.

But if they don't take action and leave when they're prompted, or maybe they get too comfortable because the weather's still nice...

...the risk is, they end up flying in crazy storms they never had to be in. Or desperately trying to find food.

All because they didn't take action on the initial prompting.

They knew what they were supposed to be doing, but they put it off.

And then suddenly, they're in a not-so-great position.

Ever been there? Like, "I don't like this position. I shouldn't have waited."

So I'm looking at this in my own life, and I also wanna ask you:

  • Where in life have you missed (or are missing) a prompt?
  • Where in life did you fail (or are failing) to do the thing you need to do?
  • Where in life did you fail (or are failing) to fly south?

And now as a result, you've got increased pressure and stress in your life. Or...you're about to.

So now back to point #2 I mentioned above:

You have to take one step, before you can take the next.

  • Is there an area in your life where you need to take action on something?
  • What would it look like for you to take one step forward on that today?

Then what is the next thing you need to do to take you further on that path, so you're finally heading south?

Just one foot (or wing flapπŸͺ½) in front of the other.

As proven after initally recording this video on a lovely, warm February day...the next storm could be right around the corner.

Love doing life with you. Hit me up and let me know what you need to take a step forward on. Makes it real!

Be blessed,
Dawn

Are weedy thoughts choking what you want to grow?
Β  We're heading into winter soon so wanna tell this story real quick while it's still relevant. So...Once a week the lawn people come and mow my yard. And right after they mow, everything looks so good, and even, and level... But by the next morning, inevitably, a weed has shot up out of nowhere. How do they come up so fast?Β  It's truly maddening. In fact, I put grass seed down earlie...
When small tweaks cause major chaos
I hurt my knee earlier this week while cramming in some early morning yardwork. You know the deal...when you think "Oh, I can just check that off the list real quick." So out I went to do my annual fall chopping-of-the-clematis-off-my-trellis in my Adidas slides. (i.e. not dressed particularly correct for such an event, but garbage day was coming) I have no idea what I did, but after ...
Are you truly enjoying the chase?
"Find what you love and let it kill you." To be clear, that's my dog. She loves tennis balls. And I'm pretty sure that if she could, she'd chase them to fatal exhaustion. The more I throw the ball, the more she runs after it. She's huffing, puffing and panting and still running after it...because she's motivated by it and she LOVES it. She has so much fun, and she'll run after it no mat...
