Before you fix the 'how,' you need to fix the 'what'

There's a billboard on one of my drives that keeps catching my attention.

It says "We fix bad vision."

(I think it catches my attention because as a coach, I usually try to encourage people to say things in a more positive or affirming way:

"We help you see better" or "We help you see again.")

Anyway, when it caught my attention the other day, I realized "Hey, I kind of do that too."

I help people who think they have bad vision...or maybe have no vision...or maybe even have some vision but have trouble arriving at it.

Now honestly, I don't really feel like I'm a huge visionary myself. Not historically, at least.

So instead of the word vision, I talk a lot about alignment. Alignment with who you are.

I love bringing clarity to that.

And the billboard makes me wonder...

(⬇️ Btw, watch instead of reading, or read on below.)

Before you fix the 'how,' you need to fix the 'what.'

...How many people think they have bad vision—bad vision for their personal life, or their professional life—when the truth is...

They just haven't stopped long enough to get clarity and alignment in what they want.

So I want to call this out to you today: What do YOU want?

What outcome—personally and professionally—aligns with you who are and what you want out of life?

I've had a mentor over the years, Brian McRae. He has a favorite saying:

"When what becomes clear, the who and the how will appear."

It's a very impactful statement.

When you have your vision and you're in alignment with it...

...when you know what you want, and it's very, very clear...

...all the 'whos' and 'hows' you need will start showing up to make it to happen.

So that's the fix, if you will, for "bad vision."

It might not be that you have bad vision at all.

It might just be an absence of clarity. It might just be not well-defined.

So what do you need to define?

What do you need to get clarity and alignment on as we go into the next year?

Once you do, your whos and hows will start showing up.

And if you need some help defining those, I'd love to do that with you at a Momentum Reset or Pick-My-Brain session.

I'd also love to hear what you're most excited about going into this next year. Shoot me a line to let me know! Maybe it'll help shake off the blur.

Love doing life with you,
Dawn

Too busy to stop for gas?
So...I’ve started to notice a pattern about what people say about why they can’t take a Momentum Reset with me. You may or may not see yourself in the reasons listed here. And while these are all particular to Momentum Reset, I think you'll find that you might be saying these same things about a lot of areas in your life. So what I want to point out is that often, we end up playing mind games w...
It’s not the big obstacle. It’s the small leaks.
I often invite other coaches and professionals in similar industries as me to sit in on my Momentum Reset workshops to give me feedback. And without fail, each time even they (coaches themselves!) leave finding clarity on something that has been getting in their way. Funny enough, it's usually the same things getting in the way for everyone: I call it leaking.  We think we aren’t taking ground ...
Why you're actually stuck
So often, we confuse movement with "taking ground." Like you're trying to run a race in storm, but are so busy dodging downed branches and fixating on the squelching in your shoes that you veer off the main path...away from the finish line. You're moving, but you're not getting to where you need to be. Most of the time, not taking ground isn't from lacking motivation; it's because we’re overloa...
