You already have everything you need.
Over the holidays I went to my happy place - the beach.
But Iāll be honest: It wasn't the tropical vibe you're probably picturing.
It was the beautiful sandy beaches of...Gulf Shores, Alabama.
AKA when waking up in the morning, 35 degrees with a "real feel" of 16.
Not exactly textbook "beach" weather. š
But I wanted to be at the beach for my 50th birthday. I wanted to put my toes in the sand. And there I was...just yards from my goal.
So I had a choice. I could stay inside where it was warm and miss the very thing I came here for...
...Or I could just bundle up in layers, wrap the scarf a little higher, and get out there.

(So I did. VoilĆ !)
Despite the cold, it was brilliantly sunny. And as I turned toward the ocean, the sun warmed my face and I was grateful I had gotten out there.
It was a beautiful reminder that we get to choose what we focus on.
It also made me stop and think: "What am I allowing to get in my way?"
Because I could've stayed inside. I could've focused on being cold.
But instead I got out there and focused on the fact that I had all I needed. I was bundled up against the elements. When I turned toward the sun, I was warmed. I was at peace hearing the gentle lapping of the waves.
The ocean brings things in and draws things back out, and as I watched I couldnāt help but wonder what that looks like for us as we step into 2026:
- What needs to be drawn closer to you?
- What needs to be washed away?
You donāt have to "fix" everything today. You don't have to strive for perfect.
But you can become aware of what you'd like a little more of, what you'd like a little less of, and most importantly, what you already have right in front of you.
Let me know if this hits home. Iād love to hear what you're choosing to focus on this year.
Blessings,
Dawn
