Stop focusing on what you're missing

Do you have that one thing that gets all your attention?

The one thing that you can't stop thinking about?

The one thing that you obsess spending time and energy over?

And here's the kicker...

Is that one thing something that's out of your control?

Is that one thing not even one of your strengths?

Is that one thing an unrealistic standard you're holding yourself (or someone else) to?

I realized today that often, my one thing isn't something I do well and yet...that's the choice I make. That's where I choose to put my energy.

Like this time of year?...

(ā¬‡ļø Btw, watch instead of reading, or read on below.)

Stop focusing on what you're missing.

This time of year my one thing is feeling like I need to—or want to—take gifts to everyone I see around the holidays.

"Oh, I didn't end up getting what I wanted for that person."

"Oh my gosh, I didn't even think about that person when I was making my holiday list."

And I get so hyper fixated on that. Like, "Oh my gosh, I can't set that appointment because I don't have anything for them."

So it stops me. And paralyzes me.

So here's my question for you:

Where are you getting paralyzed by what's missing?

Are you ready for this?

We can't do it all.

Our resources aren't unlimited. Our time. Our energy. Our money.  Our attention.

None of it is unlimited.

So why are you holding yourself to those standards?

Stop focusing on what you're missing, or what you feel like you're failing at.

Let it go!

And instead, direct that energy to what you're good at. Or what IS in your control. Or what IS possible.

A couple years ago, we had an Amazon Christmas. 2-3 days before Christmas, we ordered everything and had it sent in the brown box with the person's name on it, and it went straight under the tree. No paying extra for cute wrapping paper. Brown box, name on Amazon-printed label, under the tree. šŸ˜‚

What's possible? What's in your control?

Love doing life with you,
Dawn

The "unknown tax" you’re probably paying
I realize we're all in tax mode, so this isn't the type of tax you're probably thinking about right now. But it's a tax nonetheless. In life, when we decide to say 'yes' to something, there's almost always some unknown "extra" connected to it that we don't know realize we'reĀ also saying yes to. I might say yes to something and initially think, "Yeah, I can totally do that on Saturday!" But late...
The missing ingredient for moving the needle
Have you ever felt like you’re playing a constant game of whack-a-mole in your life and biz? You’re working hard—maybe 60+ hours a week—but it feels like you’re trying to catch rain in your hands. It’s exhausting, it’s maddening, and frankly, it’s no way to build a life or a career you actually enjoy. I see this all the time when I walk into workshops. Busy professionals show up to get all the ...
Stop the solo struggle today
I’ve been spending some time thinking about "the gap." The gap is that space between where you're standing right now, and your big goals. When we see a gap like that, our first instinct is usually to put our heads down and try to out-hustle the distance all by ourselves. But if I’m being honest, that’s usually exactly where momentum stalls. Here’s a little "real talk" without the shame: You are...
