Stop focusing on what you're missing

Do you have that one thing that gets all your attention?

The one thing that you can't stop thinking about?

The one thing that you obsess spending time and energy over?

And here's the kicker...

Is that one thing something that's out of your control?

Is that one thing not even one of your strengths?

Is that one thing an unrealistic standard you're holding yourself (or someone else) to?

I realized today that often, my one thing isn't something I do well and yet...that's the choice I make. That's where I choose to put my energy.

Like this time of year?...

(⬇️ Btw, watch instead of reading, or read on below.)

Stop focusing on what you're missing.

This time of year my one thing is feeling like I need to—or want to—take gifts to everyone I see around the holidays.

"Oh, I didn't end up getting what I wanted for that person."

"Oh my gosh, I didn't even think about that person when I was making my holiday list."

And I get so hyper fixated on that. Like, "Oh my gosh, I can't set that appointment because I don't have anything for them."

So it stops me. And paralyzes me.

So here's my question for you:

Where are you getting paralyzed by what's missing?

Are you ready for this?

We can't do it all.

Our resources aren't unlimited. Our time. Our energy. Our money.  Our attention.

None of it is unlimited.

So why are you holding yourself to those standards?

Stop focusing on what you're missing, or what you feel like you're failing at.

Let it go!

And instead, direct that energy to what you're good at. Or what IS in your control. Or what IS possible.

A couple years ago, we had an Amazon Christmas. 2-3 days before Christmas, we ordered everything and had it sent in the brown box with the person's name on it, and it went straight under the tree. No paying extra for cute wrapping paper. Brown box, name on Amazon-printed label, under the tree. 😂

What's possible? What's in your control?

Love doing life with you,
Dawn

You're getting charged for this habit...and you probably don't even realize it
We all drag our feet sometimes. Maybe you keep pushing off cleaning all the leaves out of the gutter. Or just can't get around to re-securing a loose button on a shirt.  Or can't summon the energy to catch up with family or friends. Avoidance feels pretty trivial. After all, you'll just "get around to it eventually," right? But...have you ever thought about what it's costing you? The ...
Filling the gap between who you are and who you want to be
Recently I've been talking about the idea of AAA. When I start a coaching relationship with someone, I spend a lot of time asking questions.  Sometimes uncomfortable questions. Like, "Hey, so what got in the way of you doing that?" And the aswer is usually something like, "Well, I don't know. There's just a lot going on." "Like what?" (I'm not judging what happened. I just need to kno...
Before you fix the 'how,' you need to fix the 'what'
There's a billboard on one of my drives that keeps catching my attention. It says "We fix bad vision." (I think it catches my attention because as a coach, I usually try to encourage people to say things in a more positive or affirming way: "We help you see better" or "We help you see again.") Anyway, when it caught my attention the other day, I realized "Hey, I kind of do that too." ...
