Be real: Are you doing it...or not doing it?

A bit of an above-the-fold mention real quick of something before I dig into this week's topic (which totally relates!)

On August 20th from 9-12, I'm hosting a live workshop made to help you get into momentum on your most important goals.

So quick question...is there a goal you've had, that you just can't seem to take ground on? (Or maybe it's one step forward and 2 steps back.)

Is there a place you want to be in life, and you can't figure out how to get there?

Or maybe you don't quite know where you wanna go, but know "this" isn't it?

Doesn't matter if you're a business owner or a stay-at-home mom...I'm gonna share the sauce on how to close the gap between where you are in life and where you want to be.

So I hope you'll come! Now's the time to get serious in taking ground before the end of the year AND heading into the new year feeling accomplished and optimistic.

Now on to one of the things we'll be talking about in the workshop: TIME.

Do you know in life, we have two resources?

💲 MONEY 💲

...and...

⏰ TIME ⏰

When I'm working with people I'll ask them: "Do you have more money? Or do you have more time?"

That often helps you decide what your next step needs to be in your business. Or your life.

I'm going to dig into this a little more below, but also talk about something else important...

How to stop squandering one of them. (i.e. Are you doing it...or not doing it?)

(⬇️ Btw, you can watch instead of reading, or read on below. ⬇️)

Be real: Are you doing it...or not doing it?

So back to money vs. time. For example:

  • If you have more money than time, then you can Instacart instead of slogging through the grocery store yourself.
  • If you have more money than time, then you can hire someone to do those dreaded tasks that aren't the best use of your time.
  • If you have more time than money, then you need to figure out how to make the grocery store happen yourself.
  • If you have more time than money, then you need to figure out how manage all the heavy lifting in your biz yourself.

And maybe you're thinking, "Hey Dawn, cool story. I don't have EITHER."

Tough conversation but be honest...might there be some mismanagement of resources happening?

We need to figure that out, because those are your two choices. Time and money. It's one or the other you have more of.

One of my clients recently said to me,

"Hey Dawn, I've been wanting to thank you for helping me use my calendar better with timeblocks. It's helped me more than I thought it would, honestly.

It's actually freed up a lot more of my time this week. I even have extra time to catch up on stuff, or help other people with things. So I just wanted to say thank you so much, it's helping me a lot."

That can be you. You can have that too. (Extra time, gasp!)

When we...

  • Decide what's most important in our life, and
  • Create available time for those important things, and
  • Start prioritizing those important things in our calendar

...then it allows us to actually take action on those important things (and free time up for other things)!

And another thing.

If you're like, "Dawn, I have it all in my calendar, and I just ignore it."

I'm gonna free you up a little bit right here, right now.

Ready?

Stop doing that. Just delete it. Take it off your calendar.

Ever say, "I'm going to the gym", put it on your calendar, then wake up and never go?

Just take it off! Just get rid of it, free yourself up. Unburden yourself.

Because every time that little bell goes off and you don't do it, you're telling yourself, "Hey you, the things you say you're gonna do...you're not really gonna do them."

So we have no integrity with ourselves. Can you imagine the chaos and guilt that brews inside? That's what tanks our confidence.

So get freed up, right now. Get stuff off your calendar if you're not gonna do it. Then start adding back the stuff you're actually gonna do.

And when you do add stuff back in, then let's talk timeblocks.

If you're not sure how to do that, then I recommend...

  • Writing down what you need to do, estimate how much time each will take, then block out time on your calendar, or
  • Hopping on a call and so we can have a quick conversation about it, or
  • Digging in deep together during my momentum workshop

And here's the deal. When the time in your calendar's filled, that means we need to invite in someone else to take on some of that stuff for us.

So let me know what you do with your calendar! (Or we can talk about it at the workshop.)

Hope this gifts you some time one way or another 😉
Dawn

What are you unknowingly saying “no” to?
In just five weeks, we will be exactly HALFWAY through the year. Take a sec to think about that list of things you wanted to accomplish when the year started. I mean, the big things. The important things. Have you been checking them off? Are you excited when you look at  how far you've come? Or are you feeling overwhelmed by everything left to do? Or are you already saying "Eh, I guess there's...

If you’ve been with me for any amount of time, it probably won’t surprise you that I really like my calendar. Like really like. Because of that, I get asked a lot of questions about time management, life hacks, and how to get stuff done without burnout or the trap of hustle culture. Many of us handle all there is to do by writing a massive running list. We keep adding tasks ...
Are you keeping promises to yourself?
Have you ever stopped to look at how you actually spend your time? I'm not talking about the scheduled appointments on your calendar with other people. I know you show up for those. You have integrity in those areas. I’m talking about your integrity with yourself. I'm talking about the commitments you made to your own goals, your projects, or your life at the start of this week, this month, or ...
